Information Letter for BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) Part 2

This letter gives some helpful information for the new BALOO Part 2, Yes Part 2. Last year National gave BALOO a face lift, which now includes a Part 1 to be completed on line (my., followed by Part 2 application phase to be completed in an overnight camping environment.

First and foremost BALOO is training requirement for any Pack that wishes to conduct an overnight-camping event, one adult leader is required to be BALOO trained.

The initial BALOO part 2 is scheduled to be conducted 17-18 March 2018 at Camp Ben Hawkins near Byron, Ga. It will be conducted in main camp area in the Dogwood area, there will be signs directing to the site.

Report time is 8:00am 17 March 2018

Graduation time is 11am 18 March 2018

Cost for the course is $30, please register and pay through the council office. It is preferred that Scouters that wish to attend this course to please be registered by March 9, 2018 to allow the staff adequate time to ensure sufficient food and supplies are available for the event, also any Scouter that has a food allergy to please make that known at registration time.

All Scouters will be required to bring the following documents:

BALOO Part 1 completion certificate (Scouters should be able to print this out once all modules have been completed).

Current BSA Physical (2014 Printing) Parts A/B

A complete Class A uniform is required for this training (minimum is complete shirt will all correct patches), please bring an appropriate Scouting themed t shirt as well to be used as Class B shirt when Class As aren’t worn.

Once Scouters have registered and I have received confirmation, you will be emailed more course information to include a suggested packing list to include literature that you’ll need.
