NRA Instructor Training

Shooting Sports Instructor Courses 

The Central Georgia Council is proud to begin offering NRA Instructor Courses in Rifle and Shotgun, as well as USAA Level 1 training for Archery. Be sure to read through all details before registering for each course. 

Please reach out to the Council Shooting Sports Chairman, Jim Bryan (jimbryan@outlook.com) and the Council Archery Chair, Jimmy Kieso (kiesoj@gmail.com) for specific questions. 

All students that become certified will be able to register one youth at an upcoming Camp Benjamin Hawkins event for free if they agree to help staff Shooting Sports programming at that event. (This excludes long-term camps, however Shooting Sports staff can get a discount for a youth participant.)

This training is normally $300 through a commercial trainer; therefore, we will require that all students help staff two events in the next two years. 

 

 

Rifle NRA Instructor Course- August 4th-6th  

This course completes all the requirements to become an NRA Rifle Instructor. The training includes both classroom time (to be completed at the Central Georgia Council Office) and range time (that will be completed at Camp Benjamin Hawkins). Students will complete a basic instructor training, basics of rifle shooting and rifle instructor training. Students must complete all sections to become certified. 

Cost- $40 (Price covers cost of books and materials, attendees are responsible for food) 

August 4th : Council Service Center, 6pm-8:30pm 

August 5th: Camp Benjamin Hawkins Range, 8am-5pm 

August 6th: Council Service Center, 8am-5pm 

 

Shotgun NRA Instructor Couse- August 18th-20th  

This course completes all the requirements to become an NRA Shotgun Instructor. The training includes both classroom time (to be completed at the Central Georgia Council Office) and range time (that will be completed at Camp Benjamin Hawkins). Students will complete a basic instructor training, basics of shotgun shooting and shotgun instructor training. Students must complete all sections to become certified. 

Cost- $65 (Price covers cost of books and materials, attendees are responsible for food) 

August 18th : Council Service Center, 6pm-8:30pm 

August 19th: Camp Benjamin Hawkins Range, 8am-5pm 

August 20th: Council Service Center, 8am-5pm
